Our Hydro Jetting Process

At O'Connor Plumbing, our hydro jetting process is designed to be thorough, efficient, and safe for your plumbing system.

Here's what you can expect when you schedule a hydro jetting service with us:

  • Initial inspection - We begin with a detailed inspection of your plumbing system, often performing a video inspection to locate the blockage and assess the condition of your pipes.
  • System preparation - Once we’ve identified the problem area, we prepare the system by ensuring access points are secure and the area is safe for high-pressure cleaning.
  • High-pressure jetting - Using specialized equipment, we send a powerful stream of water (up to 4,000 PSI) through your pipes to break up and flush out grease, scale, tree roots, and other stubborn debris.
  • Final inspection - After jetting, we perform another inspection to verify that the blockage is fully cleared and the pipes are in good condition.
  • Post-service recommendations - We provide expert advice on how to maintain your system and prevent future buildup, helping you extend the life of your plumbing system.

Our team is fully trained and experienced in hydro jetting techniques; we always strive to deliver safe, effective results without damaging your pipes.

Benefits of Hydro Jetting

Hydro jetting offers a powerful and effective solution for clearing tough clogs and maintaining a healthy plumbing system. Unlike traditional snaking methods, hydro jetting uses high-pressure water to thoroughly clean the interior walls of your pipes, removing grease, sludge, scale, and even tree roots. This not only restores proper flow but also helps prevent future blockages by eliminating buildup at the source. It’s a safe, eco-friendly drain cleaning method that’s ideal for both commercial and residential properties, and it can extend the lifespan of your plumbing system when performed regularly. For long-lasting results and a truly deep clean, hydro jetting is one of the best investments you can make in your plumbing infrastructure.

When Hydro Jetting Is Recommended

Hydro jetting is a powerful and efficient method of clearing out stubborn blockages and buildup, but it’s not always necessary for every plumbing issue. It's typically recommended in situations where traditional methods fall short or when you want a more thorough cleaning of your pipes.

Here are some common scenarios where hydro jetting is a good solution:

  • Recurring drain clogs - If you’re constantly dealing with backups or slow drains, hydro jetting can clear the buildup causing the issue.
  • Grease and sludge buildup - Ideal for restaurants and commercial kitchens where grease accumulates in drain lines.
  • Tree root intrusion - High-pressure water can break up and remove small to moderate root growth inside sewer lines.
  • Foul odors coming from drains - Built-up debris and waste in pipes can create unpleasant smells that hydro jetting can eliminate.
  • Preparing for pipe relining or inspection - Hydro jetting helps clear pipes before repairs or camera inspections.
  • Commercial and high-usage plumbing systems - Systems that handle heavy use may benefit from routine hydro jetting to maintain performance.

If you’re unsure whether hydro jetting is right for your plumbing issue, our team at O'Connor Plumbing can assess your system and recommend the most effective solution.

FAQ

Find Answers To Your Questions
  • What can I put in my garbage disposal?
Garbage disposals are not macerators and will only break up soft debris. Mashed potatoes, cooked carrots, eggs etc. are ok to put in the disposal. Things like bones, coffee grounds, egg shells or any hard product will wear the blades and jam the disposal. You should always run water to the disposal to help break down the foods and flush through the drain. Call the professionals at O’Connor Plumbing for help with your disposal
  • Is it safe to use chemical drain cleaners?

Drain cleaners are very toxic. If you ever look on the back of the product you will notice at least 3 warning labels. These are not very good products to have laying around your house especially if you have kids or pets. These toxic chemicals are also very bad for your pipes, causing them to deteriorate from the inside out. If this happens your drain lines will need to be replaced. There are enzymes and friendly bacteria products that will keep grease and sludge from building up inside of your pipes.

  • Why does the toilet keep running?
This is probably the most commonly asked plumbing question. In most cases it is caused by the flapper not closing on or making a proper seal around the flush valve. If the flapper is not closing, then jiggle the handle and that will normally fix the issue. If the flapper is worn out and not properly sealing, then you will have to have the flapper replaced. Either way if the flapper does not seal the water will leak into the toilet and the tank will not fill with water to push the float up and turn off the supply of water.
  • Do I need a tankless water heater?
Tankless water heaters, while at the front of technology, aren’t the solution for every house. Sometimes you are better off staying with your conventional heater. Here at O’Connor Plumbing we have tankless water heater experts that can provide you with a tankless or tank style heater that best suits your home.
